IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WIGGLE
Earthworms are Nature's composters. They help to rotate the soil breaking down organic matter from the top and mixing it with the soil underground. They also can facilitate the production of plant growth-promoting hormones and help plants protect themselves against common soil pathogens and insects.
Earthworms do not have eyes, yet they can tell light from darkness. They have no ears, yet they can sense sound vibrations. Earthworms do not have a nose, yet they can smell and taste which foods to consume. Their skin also plays multiple roles serving as a sense of touch and a breathing mechanism for the five hearts they have!
Earthworms like eating a wide variety of organic matter including detritus, living protozoa, rotifers, nematodes, bacteria, and fungi just to name a few. Their gut will not allow harmful pathogens to pass ultimately leaving behind millions of beneficial bacteria and enzymes. By removing harmful bacteria and enzymes in the soil their bodies leave aeration tunnels and room for roots to grow.
Not all worms are considered to be beneficial to soil. What this term means is that there are some species that eat more bacteria than they leave behind in castings. Over time the soil will be depleted of nutrients and micro-organisms that plants need to grow. Asian Jumping Worms are considered to be an Invasive Species. Other worms such as the Hammerhead are also deemed invasive due to the fact that they eat other invertebrates such as earthworms, isopods and insect larvae.
Eaton Worms works with both Red Wigglers and European Nightcrawlers to produce our products. Red Wigglers are known for their ferocious appetites and wide range of temperature tolerance. European Nightcrawlers are known for their ability to thrive in moderate temperatures and are a great choice of bait for fishing. During vermicomposting the Red Wigglers like to work the top three inches of the vermicompost. Whereas European Nightcrawlers like the lower three to six inches of vermicompost to eat through. Both worms work wonderfully together in our worm bins leaving behind dark rich soil loaded with nutrients and enzymes that soils and plants need to be healthy and bountiful.
As Earthworms can be a sign of healthy soil. They also are a good source of nutrients for birds and reptiles. Earthworms grow to reproductive maturity in just 50 - 90 days. As hermaphrodites every worm has the ability to lay eggs or cocoons. Each cocoon can contain up to five baby worms. This allows the worm herd to grow very fast. No need to worry about the population getting too large because earthworms will only lay a cocoon if there is enough food and room to sustain a larger population.
NATURAL FERTILIZER AND PEST CONTROL ALL IN ONE
WE TREAT THE WHOLE YARD, NOT JUST SOME OF IT!
Stop using Harmful Chemicals on your lawn and garden! Let us treat it Naturally with our own Worm Castings Extract. Providing your plants and soil with beneficial bacteria and nutrients needed for a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Pet Friendly and Safe for Waterways! Plans as low as $40 a month.
Organic Worm Castings contain over 2 million beneficial bacteria that plants and soil need in order to create a healthy sustainable ecosystem. Good bacteria consumes the bad bacteria growing in the soil leaving only healthy beneficial bacteria for plants to grow.
Our products contain all the essential nutrients that plants need to grow. Unlike synthetics that can burn your plants and pollute waterways with runoff. Our products contain naturally slow- release Nitrogen. Other nutrients are also naturally occurring as to not over-power your plants growth only providing amounts that can be absorbed immediately reducing harmful run-off.
Exopolysaccharides (EPS) are the key to soil rejuvenation. They do three key things in this process. First of all, they are bacterial hosts. The greater amounts of EPS' the more beneficial bacteria in the soil. Second, they also help to maintain moisture resulting in less watering. And lastly, they can breakdown compounded elements or synthetics in your soil. Thes e compounded elements will be coated in a slime from the EPS' which will separate the compounds into their original elements either to be absorbed by plant life or slowly dissolve away!
All our products are 100% completely safe to use on all your gardening projects big or small including golf course management.
With water resources depleting and the price of water rising it's a natural resource that needs saving! Our products will help with that too. Worm Castings can help reduce watering by maintaining moisture in the soil for a longer amount of time!
Chitinases are enzymes that degrade chitin. Chitinase contribute to the generation of carbon and nitrogen in the ecosystem. Chitin and chitinase are gaining importance for their biotechnological applications, especially the chitinases exploited in agriculture fields to control bugs and pathogens.
Chitinase is the naturally occurring enzyme that breaks down chitin
Chitin is a compound that makes up the main component of the exoskeleton of insects.
Worm Castings contain enzymes known as various forms of chitinase!
All plants contain chitinase which acts as a natural form of pest resistance in order to grow.
Testing has shown that the natural level of chitinase found in most plants is not sufficient to repel insects. When Worm Castings are applied, they activate multiplication of the chitinase producing bacteria in the plants.
The level of the chitinase enzyme for effective pest control is in the range of 1 million cfu/gdw (Colony Forming Units/ Gram Dry weight). Worm Castings tests showed concentrations of chitinase in the range of 54 million cfu/ gdw. This is over 50 times the estimated levels needed for repellence. The increase in the chitinase level on small plants to a level sufficient to repel small insects occurs in a few weeks. The increase in the level of chitinase in large plants sufficient to repel the insects takes longer. A hibiscus plant infested with White flies was treated with worm castings, applied in a half inch layer around the stem and in about two months all White fly residue and cocoons were gone!

At Eaton Worms, our mission is to promote sustainable agriculture through the use of high-quality worm compost. We believe that healthy soil leads to healthy plants, and we are dedicated to helping local farmers and gardeners achieve their goals.
Synthetics do nothing but harm the land and pollute waterways from run-off. Each year more synthetics have to be used to counteract the damage done by the previous years' use. This is not a sustainable practice. Let Nature take care of Nature and choose Organic solutions!
We fully believe that spreading the knowledge of Nature's Healers (worms) will help to promote sustainable development in farming practices. Worms not only help to aerate the soil and eat bacteria, but also fertilize the soil with their castings slowly rejuvenating the soil. We donate our time giving lectures to schools, garden clubs, and eco-friendly events on a regular basis to help spread the word. It's All About The Wiggle!!
